Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then located numerous other marked cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials report early analysis indicate the substance was most likely blood from a person.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; officials are presently not informed of any injuries in connection with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the residents for information.
A senior representative commented the vandalism rendered him speechless and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, referring to the killing of nine victims by a gunman targeting individuals of migrant background in 2020.
