19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt
A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his first trophy for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition final.
The Russian, a former world number one, has experienced a difficult season, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - led to him exiting of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.
Presently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's first trophy after the Rome competition and first on a hard surface since spring of the previous year.
Success also means Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one various competitions.
"For the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters together, so to secure a championship is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in honour of my child her name, because the first title I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, including in Halle earlier this year.
Medvedev's retrieving strategy and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had caused commentators to wonder if his skill to perform at the elite level was finished.
However the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an improved serve.
He recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Moutet, taking four of the concluding five points to go ahead.
The pair swapped break points in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his initial ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to create a final set.
He saved 4 early opportunities in a competitive final set before Medvedev broke to 15 to serve for the match.
Fittingly, he clinched the win with a shot at the net area, with Moutet failing to control a return after over two and a half hours.
