'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith renews clash with City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he reminisces about the dramatic final moments of his team's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a fan's glasses after the on-field celebration.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith cracked the upright with a speculative effort from outside the box, and the defender promptly converted the loose ball before charging toward the home end to mark the goal, with the crowd swarming the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

This capped an incredible turnaround given the Welsh side had trailed 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. In the celebrations, there was some collateral damage. The midfielder recalled, "There was a spectator sort of calling out and Josh Key and I were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're individuals, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result booked a upcoming game at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a team Galbraith ran close at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with his former club in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in stunning style, with the attacker's long-range effort from about long distance going in via the crossbar and the Stefan Ortega. It seems unfair that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that range," says Galbraith, who started in midfield before switching to right wing-back after Orient changed tactics. That meant facing off against the England international, with whom he swapped shirts, and the attacker was among the City players who paid tribute to the way Orient played positively.

City's Quality

"Fitness-wise they are very good but even the simple things and routine actions, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they are adept at control and take the sting out of a game. You can think you're holding your own and then abruptly they will just fizz a pass between defenders without you even noticing. You have to be alert throughout of the game. It takes a resilient mindset and concentration just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

The club pushed to sign Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to sign him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a popular figure across multiple campaigns at Leyton Orient and has rapidly done the same in Wales. At the London club he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in professional games on loan at a League One side from Manchester United. Then came a temporary move at League Two the Manchester club, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Learning Curve

"I was probably a slightly green going into senior level. I think a lot of players would say youth team games is entirely separate. Sometimes it feels like the ball is moved without much intensity. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to learn quickly."

Country Call-ups

He has demonstrated that maturation for his team and nation, shining for the Green and White Army, who could still reach the international competition next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the past five games, including two matches encounters against Germany. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his eye for a decisive through ball.

Starting Out

It has been an incredible journey for the youngster from the neighborhood in the Belfast suburb, just outside Belfast, who was raised observing his parent, Stuart, also a central player, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's sole appearance for the Red Devils came in the away trip in 2019, a Europa League trip to the host city, where they featured on an synthetic surface and the arena covering was sealed owing to temperatures of bitter cold. "This represented a extended travel and it was cold out there," he says, chuckling. "The days leading up, several youth players and I worked out jointly, so that assisted our preparation. Just to join the main group and get a couple of minutes at the end was amazing."

Moving On

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged his mid-teens? "It was quite easy, because I reached the point where I understood I wouldn't break through at the top level. I'm extremely thankful for the experience gained but it reached a stage where I felt I needed to go my own route, move to a lower level and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily progressing again."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during the middle of the day at the club's training ground but Galbraith has somewhere to be at the early evening: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to the local area, the 24-year-old was a regular in Swansea's so-called fun bus, a small coach driven by academy staff, the transport team, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – a former passenger used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's nice to socialize with the guys but I'm hoping to be the following person out of the minibus and driving. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's frequently playing tricks."

Public Engagement

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would mix with fans on London's Central line after starting his journey at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
